Quick Answer
Nicaragua citizens — visa-free entry — 90 days. You may enter for up to 90 days per entry with a passport — no embassy visit needed. If residency is the goal, the next step is the residency application itself.
Entry rules change. Confirm current requirements with the responsible Paraguayan mission before booking travel. Regime verified 2026-09-19.
What visa-free entry means for Nicaragua citizens
Citizens of Nicaragua enter Paraguay visa-free for up to 90 days with a passport valid for the stay.
Each entry allows up to 90 days. Tourism and scouting are covered by that allowance; living there long-term is not — that is what the residency application is for.
From entry to residency
Residency is a separate filing, not an extension of your entry stamp. The temporary-residency application is submitted to Migraciones with apostilled documents from Nicaragua; most nationalities file in person in Asuncion, and the residency card typically follows within 60-90 days of filing.
The sequencing matters: enter visa-free, file the application during your trip, and convert the entry allowance into a legal stay while the card processes. Our residency packages run that sequence for you — document prep, the filing trip, and the follow-through.
Already have your Paraguay residency card?
Then the next deadline is tax, not immigration
Card holders (temporary or permanent) who work, invoice, or want a Tax Residency Certificate need a RUC — Paraguay's taxpayer registration — and monthly filings. Registration itself is free; the classification decision is what matters.
